Effective Jan 1, 2012, Colorado's Jake Snakenberg Youth Concussion Act REQUIRES all youth coaches in Colorado to:
Receive ANNUAL training in identifying the signs and symptoms of concussions,
Immediately remove players from games and practices if they exhibit signs and symptoms of a concussion
Only allow players exhibiting signs and symptoms of concussion to return to play (games or practices) with written clearance from a medical professional
ALL HAWKS COACHES AND ASSISTANT COACHES ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE PARKER YOUTH SPORTS CONCUSSION AWARENESS TRAINING ON AN ANNUAL BASIS
Parker Youth Sports has setup an online system for completing and documenting this training for each coach. The system uses the CDC Heads UP! online training and an internal certification test that duplicates the CDC knowledge test. The internal test allows us to document and track each coach's completion of the training.
The COACHES training program can be accessed by clicking on the CONCUSSION TRAINING tab in the COACHES CORNER.
Parents are also encouraged to take the CDC training to increase their knowledge and awareness regarding concussions. The training is free and can be access using the link below.
All Parker Youth Sports coaches and assistant coaches are REQUIRED to have a background check within 2 years of the season they are coaching. The background check form can now be completed SECURELY online. Click the link under COACHES CORNER to access the form.
